While four NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series teams tested the new 20 degrees of banking at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, construction crews were continuing their work on the speedway's new media center and the Neon Garage. During the past week, cranes set in place most of the steel for the three-level, state-of-the-art media center. Crews also continued pouring the walls that will be lifted to help form the Neon Garage. The week also marked the first real test for the new pavement and the high banks as Goodyear brought four truck teams to the speedway to help prepare a tire compound for the Sept. 23 Smith's Las Vegas 350. Other progress made this week by construction crews included:
  • Completed the striping of white lines on the superspeedway.
  • Completed the installation of the billboards behind Turns 1 and 2.
  • Began work on establishing a more efficient entry and exit to the vehicle tunnel.
  • Continued internal construction of the new Busch Series garage.
  • Graded the tri-oval grass to make way for fresh sod that will be placed next week. Editor's Note: Click here for a complete look at all of this week's construction photos
