Mike Skinner, driving the No. 5 Toyota Tundra-sponsored Toyota, was fastest overall in both morning practice sessions and continued his dominance by winning the Bud Pole Award for this evening's Smith's Las Vegas 350. Everyone knew the track record would be shattered since the new, higher banking would increase speeds and Skinner was running almost 13 miles per hour faster than the track record of 165.320 mph, which he set in 2004. Skinner's pole-winning run of 30.326 sec./178.065 mph eclipsed the track record by 12.745 mph. Bobby East, driving the No. 21 State Fair Corn Dogs Ford, was second with a lap of 30.447 sec./177.357 mph. Chase Miller, Ted Musgrave and Ron Hornaday Jr. completed the top five. Brendan Gaughan of Las Vegas, driving the No. 77 South Point Resort Dodge, will start 23rd. We invite you to check back with us regularly for updates.
