Race fans who can't wait for the March 9-11 NASCAR Weekend in Las Vegas can whet their appetites with one of the most critically acclaimed racing movies to hit cinemas.
"Dale," the only authorized documentary on racing legend Dale Earnhardt, opens in Las Vegas-area theaters today. The movie, which will be shown in all Regal Cinemas locally, will play through Thursday and will return to Las Vegas during race week March 6-8.
"Dale Earnhardt is a legend," said Las Vegas Motor Speedway general manager Chris Powell. "He has been immortalized in movies and in songs, and we have honored him at the speedway with the building of the Earnhardt Terrace. It is a great complement to the NASCAR events here in Las Vegas to have this movie in town."
Narrated by Paul Newman, "Dale" is the first documentary of the late seven-time NASCAR champion that has been given the full support of Teresa Earnhardt, Dale's widow. The film includes archival race footage, rare outtakes, home videos and interviews with fans, friends and competitors.
