Rich Attisani tested a Late Model at the Bullring

after a spectacular recovery

Rich Attisani tested a Late Model at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway Thursday night for the first time since his accident in a Super Late Model August 9, 2003.

Attisani made a miraculous recovery after the driver¿s-side accident during a practice session at the Bullring. The 32-year-old was in an induced comat for close to 10 weeks at University Medical Center.

"I stayed up many a night thinking about this (driving a race car again). I decided that I¿d be a lot stronger person if I got in the car even if I decided not to do it again," said Attisani after his first run. "I just wanted to give it a shot. So far it has been working out. I¿m happy with everything. I¿m still not where I want to be myself, but I¿m kickboxing twice a week. I¿m doing a lot of things to get me back where I need to be."

Attisani tested a Late Model with the ambition to compete in one race this season.

"The crew is in position. We have a great crew, great cars, great engine guys we just need to find out if we have a driver," said Attisani. "I¿m pretty comfortable. I want to see if I can get at least one Late Model race in this year and then build a new Super Late Model for next year."
