Cassie Gannis is set to drive a NASCAR Super Late Model which honors the memory of the 19 firefighters who perished June 30 in the wildfire at Yarnell, Ariz. All 19 firefighters who lost their lives belonged to the elite Granite Mountain Hotshots group. The 22-year-old native of Phoenix, Ariz., will compete next on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Gannis' car is sponsored by retired firefighter Jack Carter. Carter is a 34-year veteran of the Champaign, Ill., Fire Department and supports three charitable causes: www.YarnellFallenFireFighters.com, the 100 Club of Arizona and the Wildland Firefighters Foundation.

"I am extremely honored to have been chosen to display the logo on my car for the NASCAR Super Late Model race on Aug. 24 in Las Vegas," Gannis said. "Firefighters risk their lives every day, and I am thrilled that I am able to bring more awareness to the foundation by displaying the logo on the car."

Last year, Gannis earned the Most Popular Driver Award in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West division.
