Q: We're looking forward to coming to the races in September. We're getting to town early. What is happening before race weekend?
-- Tricia, Tacoma, Wash.

A: Thanks for writing Tricia, and we know this entire event will be a terrific experience.

In addition to many different driver appearances that will take place around town, there are two opportunities to see drivers on Thursday that you should take advantage of. The first is the Boulevard Burnouts. This will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 and start from Planet Hollywood. The 16 playoff drivers will drive down the Strip and do burnouts and doughnuts at Spring Mountain Road (near the Wynn and Palazzo) before continuing toward the convention center.

Later that night, the inaugural Brendan Gaughan Celebrity Bowling Classic will take place at the South Point. Drivers and other NASCAR celebrities will bowl with race fans to raise money for Speedway Children's Charities.

I hope you get a chance to check out both of these events before we get started with racing on Friday.

We're looking forward to having you here this September.
