Donny Schatz spent the winter Down Under and he's hoping the experience takes him to the top of the World of Outlaws. Schatz, the winner of the 2005 World of Outlaws Nationals event in March at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, scored eight wins during a winter racing tour in Australia and now has his sites set on a World of Outlaws championship. Schatz will join the rest of the Outlaws for two nights of racing at LVMS' dirt track March 9-10. "We want to win," said Schatz, who finished second in the season-opener at Volusia County, Fla. "We definitely have all the pieces to the puzzle. To be able to come off of the way we were running in Australia and come home and pick one off in Florida right away in an all-star show is great. Hopefully we carry the momentum through the year." Schatz says he's excited to return to the Dirt Track at LVMS in March -- a track where he has seen a lot of success in the past. "I really like Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Schatz. "Any time you win somewhere that place automatically becomes more special, but we've run well there for a long time. It's a big track with good speeds, and that's where I seem to be my best." Schatz says what makes the races at LVMS so special for him are the events that occur at the track during the same time as the World of Outlaws events. "The atmosphere is always pretty exciting as well," said Schatz. "Not only do you have the energy of Las Vegas in the air, but we share the weekends with the NASCAR crowd in the spring and the NHRA in the fall. It's fun to have fans of other series come out and support us. Our goal is to put on a good show, and with the type of high speed racetrack it is, we usually have a great race." Schatz, along with all the drivers from the World of Outlaws Sprint Car and Dirt Late Model Series, will be competing at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway March 9-10.
