LAS VEGAS - The 16th annual Duel in the Desert for IMCA Modifieds will take place Nov. 7-9 at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Last year, the Duel in the Desert once again set a new record for entries, with 253 IMCA Modifieds (from 24 states and two Canadian provinces) and 55 Sport Modifieds signed in at the half-mile dirt oval. The previous record, 240, was set in 2011.

This year, a best-appearing car contest, sponsored by Wells Design (www.wellsdesignandelitesports.com) in Ogallalla, Neb., has been added. Cars must have a Las Vegas theme to be eligible for voting.

Voting will be conducted during the Nov. 6-9 race weekend via the XSAN Facebook page. XSAN will televise the event and $500 to the driver with the most votes. Second place will pay $300 and third will net $200. The winner also will receive a 2014 competitor's license and trophy from Wells Design.

For more information on the contest, please contact Kevin Yoder at the IMCA office at (319) 472-2201.

Other contingency awards include: a set of toe plates from Allstar Performance, MD3 nose piece from Performance Bodies and a steering box from Sweet Manufacturing to the Modified winner and an MD3 nose piece from Performance Bodies to the IMCA SportMod winner.
