KISS members Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons to appear at The Strip at LVMS Rock legends are grand marshals for NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals Drag racing and heavy metal music seem to go together naturally so it is only fitting that members of legendary rock group KISS will appear at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway's NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals Oct. 26-27. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of KISS -- a band famous for rock anthems such as "Rock 'n' Roll All Nite" and "Calling Dr. Love" -- will serve as grand marshals for the event and also are tentatively scheduled to appear at Club Nitro at the track on Saturday morning. To commemorate the band's 30th anniversary, three KISS-themed cars will compete in the event. The cars of Tony Pedregon (Funny Car), Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel Dragster) and Kurt Johnson (Pro Stock) all will carry special KISS paint themes to launch a die-cast car promotion for Action Performance. "The connection is simple," Stanley explained. "The awesome metal, thunder and pure adrenalin rush of the NHRA makes it the KISS of motor racing." "Life should be hot and heavy," Simmons added. "Engines that shoot flames, loose cars and fast women. I'm there!" With more than 80 million albums sold -- supported by sold-out tours and 24 gold records -- KISS is a rock ¿n¿ roll institution. For more information about the band, visit the official KISS website at www.kissonline.com. Tickets are on sale for the second annual NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals at The Strip at LVMS. The event is the next-to-last race on the 2002 NHRA POWERade Series schedule and should figure heavily in championship battles. This event also will be Kenny Bernstein's final appearance as a Top Fuel Dragster driver in Las Vegas. Pro categories include Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Bike. Tickets may be purchased by calling the LVMS ticket office at (702) 644-4444. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is owned and operated by Speedway Motorsports, Inc.
