Kid Rock to get his first taste of drag racing at The Strip

Racing events in Las Vegas have become a gathering place for celebrities for the past several years. After next weekend¿s NHRA Nationals, music superstar Kid Rock can add his name to that list.

Kid Rock, the award-winning recording artist, will be on hand for Friday night¿s qualifying session as well as Saturday¿s qualifying round as a guest of the Mac Tools Top Fuel Racing team and driver Doug Kalitta.

Kid Rock will join a list of celebrities such as KISS stars Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, pop superstar Britney Spears, Stray Cats lead singer Brian Setzer, comedian Carrot Top, talk show host Rush Limbaugh, actresses Pamela Anderson and Vanna White, actor Chuck Norris and sports stars Jim Kelly, Reggie Jackson, Jim McMahon, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf who have all been to LVMS in the past year and half.

Kalitta¿s dragster will have Kid Rock¿s picture on the car throughout the weekend. On Saturday, Kalitta will put Rock in his car for a warm-up in the team¿s pit area. In October of 2002, Kalitta drove at dragster adorned with decals for KISS during the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals. Action Performance will offer a limited edition, die-cast replica of the Kid Rock dragster to commemorate the occasion.

¿The KISS dragster was such a big hit with fans, I can only imagine what they¿ll do when they get a look at this Kid Rock machine,¿ Kalitta said. ¿I love rock and roll music, it¿s all about energy and intensity.¿
