Ed Thornton's 218-mph '57 Chevy wins Strip's PSCA Spring Sizzler

It was a new car, but a familiar name that graced the winner's circle at the PSCA Spring Sizzler at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway March 28.  Ed Thornton of Chino Hills, Calif., defeated Barry Hobson of Seattle to claim Pro Street honors.  Thornton, now driving a black 1957 Chevrolet instead of his familiar orange 1969 Camaro, also earned Top Speed of the meet (218.19 mph), Low E.T. (6.654 sec.) and No. 1 Qualifier status.

Gil Nevarez of Las Vegas drove to victory in his 1966 Nova in the Real Street division.  Las Vegas' Glen Copley claimed Bracket 1 honors, while Bill Dudley (Las Vegas) defeated Ralph Gibney for the Trophy division hardware.  Justin Lamb of Henderson scored the Super Quick victory over Las Vegas' Ralph Lamermier.

The Strip at LVMS presents the fifth annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals April 1-4.  Tickets are available by calling the LVMS ticket office at (702) 644-4444 or online at www.LVMS.com.
