Haddock ready for the weekend

Terry Haddock is anxious to participate in this weekend's fifth annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  For Haddock it means a weekend of racing the Barrett Enterprises Funny Car, something he hasn¿t done for several weeks.  Haddock, who is only running a 14-race season, sat out the Mac Tools Gatornationals and had to watch the action on TV.

¿It was really hard to watch everybody on TV,¿ said Haddock.  ¿I wanted to be there, but it wasn¿t on our schedule and it just didn¿t make sense to make the trip.¿

However, Haddock didn¿t just sit and watch TV during his three week hiatus, instead he used the time to his advantage.

¿I used most of the time working on our stuff,¿ said Haddock.  ¿I want everything ready to go when we pull into The Strip, so we are better prepared for what may come our way during the race.

¿Plus Tim is back from Australia.  He worked on the team in 2002 and we¿re glad that he¿s back.  He¿s going to be on the car full-time and will be a great help.¿

The Hackettstown, N.J., native set-up a temporary home and shop this year in Santa Barbara, Calif.  These past few weeks off from racing gave him an opportunity to go home.

¿I haven¿t been home since Christmas,¿ said Haddock, ¿so it really was nice to go back and see Mom and Dad.  It also gave me a chance to spend some time with Vinnie (of VF Trucking).  When he comes to the races, I¿m always so busy that we don¿t get to spend much time together and I miss that.

¿On the trip to N.J. I stopped in Illinois and met with the new sponsors, Bill and Patti Barrett.  I went to their shop, met their family and friends and stayed overnight at their home.  It was a nice visit.  But I¿m glad to be back to the race car, and I¿m really glad to be getting ready to go racing.  It¿s much harder not to be racing when there is a race going on and everybody else is racing, than it is in the off-season.

¿I¿m looking forward to this weekend, Vegas is a fun town, the Strip is a great track and I¿m looking for the Barrett Enterprises Camaro to qualify and run it¿s best.¿
