Landram wins Jerry¿s Nugget Series Super Pro finale at The Strip;

Lamb, Generalao share NHRA Jr. Dragster honors

 

 

May 22, 2004 -- Ron Landram of Las Vegas defeated Bob Defrancesco to claim his first final-round victory of the 2004 season in the Super Pro division at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Landram¿s 1967 Camaro ran 10.848 sec./120.26 mph to Defrancesco¿s runner-up pass of 11.047 sec./119.98 mph. 

Scott Machael defeated Jim Heaton for Pro honors.  Scott Parsons of Monroe, Utah, won his first-ever final round at The Strip, in the Street category.  Kahea Woods of Las Vegas won his second consecutive Motorcycle final, this time over newcomer Wilton Kimbrough of Corona, Calif.  Michael Dudley defeated Billy Fraker for the Sport Compact crown.

            Jerry¿s Nugget Casino Reaction-Time Bonus Awards were won by Robin Harris (Pro), Kristin Kaminski (Street, with a perfect .500 reaction time), Randy Holly (Super Pro), Kevin Lark of Los Angeles (Motorcycle) and Sandra Darby (Sport Compact).  The prize is awarded to the driver/rider who posts the best reaction time on a winning run in the first round of competition.

            Bracket Run-for-the-Money races were won by: Michael Jackson (Pro), Greg Hicks (Super Pro), Mark Acton (combined Street/Sport Compact) and Michael Powell (Motorcycle).

            On Saturday morning, Ryen Lamb of Henderson won her third Thunder division final of the 2004 season and Shaundra Generalao claimed the Lightning class in Short Line Express Markets NHRA Jr. Dragster competition.

The Jerry¿s Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series resumes at The Strip on Saturday, June 5, with the fifth points race of the 2004 season.
