This weekend at The Strip at LVMS:

Pajama party theme for late-night Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series meet July 16

Thursday: Thursday Night Street Wars

Friday: GlobePC.com Show 'n' Go Friday

The next two Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series events at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will have later starting times in order to help racers and fans beat the summer heat.  On Saturday, July 16, The Strip will present its second annual Pajama Party.  All class winners will receive a custom bathrobe and LVMS teddy bear.  All spectators arriving at the track dressed in their pajamas will be admitted for $3.  Gates will open at 5 p.m., with time trials at 8 p.m. and racing at 11 p.m.

"Trying to host a race in the middle of the desert in the heat of July can be a challenge for racers, fans and officials," said Chris Blair, LVMS' senior director of drag racing operations. "The Pajama Party Classic allows fans and racers to beat the heat and proves that Las Vegas truly is a 24-hour town.  The late-night events have become some of the most popular races for the Jerry's Nugget Championship Drag Racing Series.  Our racers and spectators enjoy this opportunity for post-race tailgate parties and other special activities. The late-night drags are the highlight of the season for our local racing community."

The 10th points race of the Jerry's Nugget Series also will post a later starting time.  The Aug. 13 Late-night Special will run from 8 p.m.-2 a.m.
