Las Vegas' Rod Fuller excited to return to his home turf at The Strip at LVMS for April 6-9 NHRA Nationals

NHRA Top Fuel Dragster racer and Las Vegas resident Rod Fuller is more excited than most to be heading home for the NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway April 6-9.

Fuller, who won at Phoenix last month and now sits in second place in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series' Top Fuel Dragster points standings, says that he can't wait to get back to Las Vegas.

"I'm having a hard time focusing on Houston this week because I'm excited to come home," said Fuller, who was born in Arkansas and moved to Las Vegas a few years ago. "I know I can win, and it would be great to do it in front of my hometown and friends and protect the home turf."

Fuller has won in Sportsman division races at The Strip and is hoping to capture his first Las Vegas Top Fuel final.  He says that coming back home to a familiar track gives him a big advantage over his competitors coming in to this event.

"I know the track and the area," said Fuller. "I really feel that a lot of the competitors are going to enjoy the Las Vegas nightlife and lifestyle while I'll be able to focus. They'll be spending they're fine money in town and I'll be in bed by 10."

Fuller says that it's that familiarity with the city and the track that he hopes will bring him his second win of the season.

"Familiarity is so big in this sport," said Fuller. "I'll be sleeping in my own bed at my own house instead of a hotel room, eating hotel food. Best of all, my crew chief (Lee Beard) won the spring race at LVMS last year, so that's also a huge advantage."
