Capps favored to win Sunday's

NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals' Funny Car finale

It's certainly no surprise that Ron Capps, driver of Schumacher Racing's Brut-sponsored Dodge Funny Car, is favored to win this weekend's NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Capps, always a top contender in the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, won in Las Vegas last October.  And just four races into the 2006 season, Capps has won twice (Houston and Gainesville) and was runner-up in the season opener at Pomona, Calif.  That's why Micah Roberts, oddsmaker for Station Casinos in Las Vegas, has tabbed Capps as the favorite, at 3-to-1.

Perennial Pro Stock favorite Greg Anderson is listed at 5-to-7 and Melanie Troxel, another Schumacher Racing pilot, is posted at 5-to-2 in the Top Fuel Dragster column.  Hometown hero Rod Fuller's Valvoline-sponsored Top Fuel Dragster is listed at 6-to-1 odds.

A free NHRA driver autograph session will kick off the race weekend on Thursday from 7-8 p.m. at the ESPN Zone at the New York New York Hotel & Casino. More than 20 drivers - including Tony Schumacher and Rod Fuller - are expected to participate.

Tickets for this weekend's NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals may be purchased at the LVMS ticket office or by calling (702) 644-4444.
