Calvert Racing PSCA Summer Nationals Pro Street finale to Thornton; Local wins go to McDaniel, Langle at The Strip

Although the National Weather Service recorded two consecutive 110-degree days in Las Vegas, it did little to affect the outcome of the much-anticipated Pro Street finale at the June 23-24 Calvert Racing PSCA Summer Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Perennial favorite Ed Thornton of Chino Hills, Calif., scored the final-round victory over Steve Paulauskis of Peoria, Ariz., with a 207-mph pass in the right lane.  All winning runs in Pro Street class eliminations were in excess of 200 mph.  Thornton also set top speed for the meet at 219.97 mph in his 1957 Chevrolet.

There were two local winners over the weekend: Don Langle won the Quick Street finale and Ken McDaniel won the Trophy class.

Other class winners included: Ron Weems (Outlaw Street), Chris Alston Jr. (X-Treeme Street), Matt Schmidt (Real Street), Don Bevers (Hot Street), Manuel Figueroa (True Street), Steve Short (Wild Street), Luis Ceballos (Limited Street), Daniel Shuken (10:60 Index), Mike Nordahl (Open Comp) and Kelli Cox (Bracket 1).

The Strip at LVMS is dark until Friday, July 7 (Test 'n' Tune and BFGoodrich Midnight Mayhem).  For more information, please call The Strip's office at (702) 632-8213 or visit
