The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway currently is accepting applications for part-time employees to join its operations staff. Selected individuals will be part of the race operations team for a variety of local, regional and national events held at America's Greatest Drag Strip. "Our schedule has grown and the variety of our events has expanded," said Chris Blair, LVMS Sr. Director of Drag Racing Operations. "We're looking for people who have friendly personalities, a strong work ethic and a great sense of pride in a job well done. You don't have to have a racing background to work for us; you just need to be a team player with a willingness to learn." Positions currently available include: Event announcers and announcer assistants: Several lead/back-up announcer positions are available (including positions at The Dirt Track). Qualified applicants will have a strong speaking voice, excellent vocabulary skills and the ability to entertain. Announcer assistants will have excellent computer skills and/or knowledge of mixing equipment to run show music during events. A demo tape (in addition to a resume) is suggested but not required. Tech officials: Tech officials to conduct safety inspections of participating vehicles. All tech officials will undergo a training/screening process during the Fall 2006 season. Final applicants will take the NHRA administered SFI training test in January of 2007. Customer service representatives: Customer service representatives will play several roles on The Strip's staff including, but not limited to, front gate greeter, staging lanes and time slips.
