The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway won three awards - including Track of the Year - at the 2006 NHRA Division 7 awards banquet held Saturday evening at the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

In addition to the Track-of-the-Year award, The Strip at LVMS also won the NHRA Division 7 Team Spirit award and the Track Manager's Cup at the NHRA Division 7 E.T. Finals Oct. 13-15 at Auto Club Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, Calif.

"We are extremely proud to win the Track-of-the-Year award again, because it is voted on by the racers," said Chris Blair, LVMS' vice president of racing operations.  "It means a lot to the management and staff of The Strip to know the drag racers think so highly of us.

"I also am proud of our racers who supported our track and represented us so well at the E.T. Finals.  We thank them for their loyalty and support and look forward to competing for these awards again in 2007."

The Team Spirit Award is voted on by NHRA officials and the National Dragster Magazine staff for spirit, decoration, support and noise generated by the teams representing NHRA Division 7 member tracks.  The Track Manager's Cup is based on the overall performance of The Strip at LVMS' team during the Race of Champions at the NHRA Division 7 E.T. Finals.

The Strip at LVMS also will host the 2007 NHRA Division 7 E.T. Finals, Oct. 11-14.

The Strip at LVMS opens its 2007 season with the sixth annual Nitro Blast-off on Jan. 19-21.  The three-day test session will host the biggest names in professional drag racing as NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Top Fuel Dragster, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle teams test their new machinery prior to the start of the 2007 campaign.
