John Force and his race team are back.

Drag racing's most prolific Funny Car team will return to racing this weekend at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the NHRA Summitracing.com Nationals. It will be the team's first race since the tragic death of driver Eric Medlen three weeks ago following a crash during a test session.

"I need to get to a race track and do what I do," Force said. "That's the only way I'm going to get well."
Force said he will bring all four of his race teams to Las Vegas, but no one will drive the car previously occupied by Medlen. Force and teammates Robert Hight and Ashley Force are scheduled to compete.

"We are taking all four cars to Vegas out of respect for Eric, but we will only race three of them," John Force said.

Force also will take part in an unprecedented test session on Wednesday at LVMS. The NHRA has made an exception to its testing policy, which prohibits testing on a track within seven days of an event, to allow

Force to test some new safety features his team has worked on. Force only plans to launch the car approximately 300 feet as part of the test session.

Tickets remain for this weekend's NHRA SunnitRacing.com Nationals. Race fans may call (800)-644-4444 or visit www.lvms.com  for tickets. Tickets also will be available at the gate.
