Improvements will greet fans coming to NASCAR Weekend at LVMS;

Additional ticket gates and access ramp will speed entrance, exit

Race fans arriving at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the March 4-7 NASCAR Weekend will notice many enhancements to the facility. In addition to the new Dale Earnhardt Terrace, the speedway has made significant alterations to the property to make fans¿ visit to LVMS more enjoyable.

Hundreds of yards of chain link fence have been removed from the perimeter of the superspeedway, allowing fans easier access to the midway area. The grandstand area has eight entrance gates and each gate is covered with a red canopy and flanked by six flagpoles. The flagpoles will make it easier for fans to identify gates even on the huge midway.

Race fans seated in the grandstands in Turn 1 now have a wide access ramp for quick exit once the event is completed.

"Our construction crew has been busy making improvements in preparation for NASCAR Weekend," said LVMS general manager Chris Powell. "We identified areas where we could make it more convenient and enjoyable for our guests and made the necessary changes. The new gates are easy to locate and will lessen the wait in line to enter the grandstand. We have a new ramp behind Section 1 that will allow fans to exit from that area and walk directly to their cars. When we open the gates Friday morning, we are confident our fans will take notice of and enjoy the fresh new look at Las Vegas Motor Speedway."

The speedway also has improved the facility¿s cosmetics with large, bold letters on the front of the superspeedway suite building that spell out the speedway¿s name. Nextel signs have replaced Winston signs and the new Sunoco towers have been built on each end of pit road replacing the 76 Racing balls that had been a staple at NASCAR tracks for decades.

NASCAR Weekend at LVMS begins Thursday with the Las Vegas Outlaw Nationals Presented by J.D. Byrider for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car series. Friday, March 5, opens with Pole Day qualifying for the NASCAR Nextel Cup and NASCAR Busch Series at the superspeedway, followed by the conclusion of the World of Outlaws series at the dirt oval.
