Although we're headed into the final week of August, it's beginning to look like spring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After enduring months of drab brown (dirt) and black (pavement), the color green has emerged in the infield of the tri-oval of the 1.5-mile superspeedway as four acres of sod was planted between pit road and the front straightaway. Construction continues on the Neon Garage fan zone, state-of-the-art media center and NASCAR Busch Series garage. The first event to be held on LVMS' new pavement and 20-degree banked turns will be the Smith's Las Vegas 350 for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on Sept. 23. Tickets for the event may be purchased by calling the LVMS ticket office at (702) 644-4444 or online at
