NASCAR Nextel Cup Series star and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch met with local media Monday as he prepared to compete in tonight's 75-lap Night of Fire Super Late Model feature at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  Busch, who drives the No. 5 Kellogg's Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, will compete in a self-owned black No. 51 Super Late Model sponsored by Electricvisual.com.  Busch tested in his new car following the press conference.

"I'm excited to be able to return to the Bullring," said Kyle.  "This is the first race for this new car for me.  It's gonna be neat and exciting and hopefully everyone will enjoy the firework extravaganza and the (race) night we're going to have out here.  It's just fun for me.  It's my favorite type of car and my favorite type of racing - which is a local short-track level, racing these (Super) Late Models with the bias-ply tires.  It's home.  The July 3rd fireworks night has always been big in Las Vegas.  The whole staff here at the speedway has done a great job promoting the event.  The 75 laps is a cool deal and hopefully it will help me set up for the Fall Classic (Nov. 8-10 at the Bullring). "

Busch knows LVMS' 3/8-mile asphalt short track well: he and his older brother, Kurt, honed their racing skills at the Bullring prior to graduating to NASCAR's premier series.  Kyle also won his first Super Late Model race - in his first time behind the wheel of a Super Late Model - at the Bullring in 2002.
Tomorrow night's annual Independence Day holiday extravaganza will include short-track stock car racing, fireworks, Monster Trucks, a Jet Car burn, a D1 Grand Prix drifting exhibition, freestyle quad exhibition and a Bullring driver autograph session.  Reigning Miss Las Vegas, Amanda Kunzi, will sing the National Anthem.

Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m., with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.  Classes will include Super Late Models (featuring NASCAR Nextel Cup Series star and Las Vegas native Kyle Busch), the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series, IMCA Modifieds and Legends Cars. Adult spectator admission is $15, children 6-12 are $5 and kids 5 and under will be admitted free.  The Bullring offers $1 hot dogs, $1 beer and $1 soda at every race event.

Fans may purchase tickets in advance by calling the LVMS ticket office at (702) 644-4444 or online at www.LVMS.com.  Tickets for the Bullring's popular drive-in section, the Stockyard, already are sold out.
