"Danica-mania" is coming to Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Open-wheel racer Danica Patrick plans to compete in the Sam's Town 300 on Feb. 27, scheduling LVMS as one of her stops in the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series.

"We're ecstatic to be the site of one of Danica's first races in NASCAR competition," said LVMS president Chris Powell.  "Danica is one of the most recognizable figures in all of sports, and her decision to place the Sam's Town 300 on her schedule will add tremendous excitement to our 2010 NASCAR Weekend.  Her decision to enter stock-car competition opens many doors in the NASCAR world from a promotional standpoint, and it provides a unique opportunity for us to cultivate new fans."

Patrick announced in December she would attempt to participate in a limited NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule for Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s JR Motorsports team. She said that she plans to compete full-time in the Izod IndyCar Series as well. Patrick is expected to compete in no more than 10 NASCAR Nationwide Series races this season.

"We're very pleased that Ms. Patrick has decided to participate in the Sam's Town 300, which has consistently been one of the premier races on the Nationwide Series circuit," said Paul Chakmak, chief operating officer of Boyd Gaming, Sam's Town Hotel & Casino's parent company.  "Her participation brings another level of excitement to NASCAR Weekend in Las Vegas."
