Dan Wettlaufer had never thought about attending a NASCAR race before this year's NASCAR Weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

But thanks to the track's partnership with the clean energy company DC Solar, he not only was able to experience the motorsports spectacle for the first time, but also charge his electric Tesla while doing so. The California-based company that specializes in mobile solar generators designed for off-grid applications provided solar-powered charging stations at LVMS during race weekend March 4-6, enabling a number of electric vehicle owners to charge their rides while enjoying NASCAR racing at its best.

"As I enjoy the festivities today, my car is filling up with sunshine here from Las Vegas," Wettlaufer said in a video interview with LVMS. "During the course of the day, (the charge) more than makes up for my drive here and back home. I think it's fantastic and is great leadership on their part to set an example to prove that it can be done."

DC Solar also provided 10 LED mobile solar light towers that were used throughout the LVMS property on NASCAR Weekend. The light towers ran after sunset using solar energy stored during the day, providing fans with ample lighting in strategic areas in a safe and clean way.

LVMS' partnership with DC Solar is the latest way the speedway has supported green initiatives at its events throughout the 1,000-acre property. NASCAR's celebration of the motorsports industry's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint has brought to light a number of positive storylines, and the DC Solar-LVMS multi-year agreement certainly should be considered in that category.

DC Solar serves a variety of industries, including emergency preparedness, disaster relief, construction, entertainment, sports and agriculture, to name just a few. DC Solar's mission is to promote a healthier planet by offering unique portable solar products that make a difference in how people use and think about power.

Thanks to their partnership, LVMS and DC Solar are making a difference together.
