Wallace Jr. ready to give Kyle Busch Motorsports its first Truck Series win at LVMS
There are only six races remaining in the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season and Darrell Wallace Jr. sits in fourth place in points, only 35 points behind series leader Matt Crafton.
Just don't try to engage the affable 20-year-old driver in any discussion about points. Wallace, who drives for Kyle Busch's team in the Truck Series, has only one thing on his mind as he prepares for Saturday's Rhino Linings 350 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: winning.
Wallace has two victories this season and nine top-10 finishes in 16 races. The Mobile, Ala., native finished fifth at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last year after leading 23 laps and said he would like nothing better than to pick up his third victory of the season at a track at which Kyle Busch Motorsports has never won a Truck Series race.
"I'm ready to get to the track and get Toyota back in Victory Lane and get KBM their first win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway," said Wallace, who finished second to 16-year-old Cole Custer last weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
"I'm pumped to get to Las Vegas this weekend with our No. 54 ToyotaCare Toyota Tundra.  Our mile-and-a-half program has turned around a tremendous amount. We have a brand new Toyota Tundra that we are taking this weekend and we have the momentum on our side coming off a strong finish in New Hampshire."
Wallace will be joined by teammate Erik Jones in another KBM entry in the Rhino Linings 350. Jones, 18, will be making his first-ever start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The Rhino Linings 350 will take the green flag Saturday at 7 p.m. Qualifying for the 146-lap race will begin at 3:40 p.m. A free driver autograph session will be held in the Neon Garage from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and the players from the Mountain Ridge Little League All-Stars, the first team in Nevada history to qualify for the Little League World Series last month, will serve as the grand marshals for the race. Neon Garage access is free with each ticket.
Following the Rhino Linings 350, fans are encouraged to stay in their seats for a fireworks display.
Tickets for the 18th annual Rhino Linings 350 are available by calling 702-644-4444 or by visiting www.lvms.com.
