New Dodge SRT-10 pickup to pace LVMS¿ NASCAR Nextel Cup, Busch Series events

Las Vegas Motor Speedway¿s 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400 and NASCAR Busch Series Sam¿s Town 300 will be paced by a new and exciting pace vehicle: the Dodge SRT-10 Ram pickup.

This aggressively-engineered vehicle is anything but your average pickup truck.  In fact, it outperforms all other trucks and most cars too.

The SRT-10 is powered by an aluminum block 8.3L V-10 Viper engine.  The 505 cubic inch powerplant creates 500 horsepower and can move the SRT-10 from zero to 60 in just over five seconds.  The SRT-10 rides on Bilstein shock absorbers, 22-inch cast aluminum Viper-style wheels and 305/40 Pirelli Scorpion tires.  It also features a functional rear wing which reduces both drag and lift.  The SRT-10 is available only in red, silver or black and comes with a 500-watt sound system.

¿The Dodge SRT-10 Ram was just certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest production pickup truck on the planet,¿ said Dodge Motorsports¿ NASCAR Truck Program Manager Scott K. Richter.  ¿NASCAR driver Brendan Gaughan drove the Ram to an official average speed of 154.587 mph on a 4.71-mile oval.¿

The consumer version of the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 comes standard with a Hurst shift linkage and a modified version of the Viper SRT-10's Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission.  At NASCAR¿s request, the SRT-10 pace truck has been modified to use an automatic transmission.
