Las Vegas Motor Speedway's Public Relations Department will be providing weekly construction updates as the speedway undergoes its multi-million dollar facelift, which will result in a new fan interactive garage area, a pit road closer to the grandstands, resurfaced and re-banked racing surface and state-of-the-art media center.

In the past week, construction crews have completed the following tasks:

  • Begun the process of bringing in dirt to create the 20-degree banked turns and the elevated back stretch. As of Friday, approximately 40,000 cubic yards of fill had been brought into the infield, which is about one-third of the dirt needed to finish the project.
  • Completed the installation of the new pit wall.
  • Begun the construction of the retaining wall on the backstretch. (Beginning Monday, crews will begin working 24-hour shifts to complete the crash wall around the speedway.)
  • Crews have removed most of the debris from demolished infield buildings.
  • Completed the rewiring of the Musco Lighting System on both the inside and outside of the track.
  • Halfway through the infield tunnel extension project.
