With four days of NASCAR testing in the rear view mirror, Las Vegas Motor Speedway has turned its attention to the March 9-11 NASCAR Weekend.
Construction crews are hard at work putting the final touches on the Neon Garage and new media center.
Both concession buildings in the courtyard of the Neon Garage have been built and work is nearing completion on the new sports bar. Glass has been installed in most areas of the first and second level of the Neon Garage and paving is completed for the hot garage area.
"We announced this ambitious project only a year ago," said LVMS general manager Chris Powell. "We had artist renderings of a spectacular new speedway and a one-of-a-kind garage area, but to see this amazing attraction taking shape has been very exciting for everyone. The construction crews have worked tirelessly. It is gratifying to see that a dream and some drawings a year ago have become a reality today."
This past summer the speedway's banking was raised from 12 to 20 degrees and the pit road was moved 275 feet closer to the grandstands. The Neon Garage and media center are the finale phase of the multi-million dollar renovation announced in January, 2006.
Race fans can still purchase tickets for the NASCAR Weekend and single-day passes for the Neon Garage by calling 1-800-644-4444 or logging on to www.lvms.com.
