Before the 700-horsepower stock cars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series take to Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 2, race fans will have their chance to make a lap around the 1.5-mile superspeedway for three worthy causes.

LVMS will host its first NASCAR Foundation Track Walk on Sunday morning prior to the March 2 UAW-Dodge 400. The proceeds from the walk will benefit Speedway Children's Charities, the NASCAR Foundation and the Kyle Busch Foundation. All money raised by the Kyle Busch Foundation will be donated to Boys Town of Nevada.

"We are honored to be a part of this event," said LVMS general manager Chris Powell. "Through our local chapter of Speedway Children's Charities we have donated well over $1 million since the Las Vegas chapter was organized in 1999. The NASCAR Foundation and Kyle Busch's foundation are great examples of the way the NASCAR community gives back. We're especially happy that Kyle will be using the money raised here in Southern Nevada."

The Track Walk at LVMS will be the first of six such events scheduled at various speedways in 2008. Texas Motor Speedway (April 6), Dover International Speedway (May 31), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (June 28), Bristol Motor Speedway (Aug. 22) and Lowe's Motor Speedway at Charlotte (Nov. 10) will host the others.

Race fans who want to participate in the walk in Las Vegas, may register at www.lvms.com. The cost to participate is $30 in advance or $35 on the day of the event. There will be a registration area at Las Vegas Motor Speedway during the Feb. 29-March 2 NASCAR Weekend. Children under 14 are free with a paying adult.

Speedway Children's Charities (SCC) provides funds to organizations that meet the direct needs of children.
