In a powerful show of hope, unity and resilience, breast cancer survivors gathered at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Thursday, Oct. 1, for the annual Paint the Track event ahead of the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series Chase Race. Together, survivors and community members transformed the speedway’s apron with bright pink ribbons, honoring those who have battled breast cancer, remembering those lost to the disease and celebrating the strength of survivors everywhere.

The annual event gives breast cancer survivors a meaningful opportunity to come together and share their stories while helping prepare the speedway for NASCAR’s return to Las Vegas. With each brushstroke, participants helped turn the track into a visual reminder of the ongoing fight against breast cancer and the importance of awareness, support and early detection.

“It’s a great outing for us survivors; it’s great to be a part of something that celebrates you,” said Maura Vivens, a breast cancer survivor. “When you can come to something like this, it means everything.”

For many of the survivors in attendance, the event offered more than an opportunity to paint the track. It created a space to connect with others who understand the journey, celebrate milestones and honor family members and friends whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer.

“What a great event today,” said Patrick Lindsey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of LVMS. “Welcoming breast cancer survivors from our community to paint these ribbons on our track is an incredibly rewarding way to begin the South Point 400 weekend. These ribbons represent so much more than the color pink; they represent the strength, hope, perseverance, and the countless people who have been impacted by breast cancer.”

The event also highlights the continued partnership between Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Focused Health and the American Cancer Society to raise awareness and support the breast cancer community. Volunteers from the American Cancer Society joined survivors and speedway representatives, helping bring the pink ribbons to life across the track.

The Paint the Track Pink event comes just days before the Focused Health 302 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase Race on Saturday, Oct. 3, and the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series Chase Race on Sunday, Oct. 4. The pink ribbons will remain visible throughout race weekend, allowing thousands of fans to see the tribute and recognize the survivors and loved ones represented by each ribbon.

Fans attending the South Point 400 are encouraged to join the celebration by wearing pink, sharing messages of support and honoring loved ones who have been impacted by breast cancer. Together, the NASCAR community and fans throughout Las Vegas can help drive awareness, celebrate survivors and continue the fight against breast cancer.
