NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suárez spent Thursday, Sept. 3, exploring Las Vegas and connecting with the local community during a full day of school visits, media appearances, cultural experiences and fan engagement ahead of his return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400 race weekend, Oct. 2–4.
A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Suárez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race. His time in Las Vegas provided an opportunity to share his story while meeting with local students, fans and members of the community and experiencing several of the city’s unique businesses and attractions.
Suárez began his day at El Dorado High School, where he met with students participating in the school’s Automotive Technology and Mariachi programs. He shared stories from his journey in motorsports, participated in Q&A sessions and posed for photos with students. During his time with the Mariachi class, the students surprised Suárez with a performance of a piece they had been working on, creating a special and memorable experience for both Suárez and the students.
From there, Suárez visited The Las Vegas Bakery, where he stepped into the kitchen to help create some of the bakery’s signature viral Mexican desserts. Founded by Ana Hernandez, The Las Vegas Bakery has built its identity around creativity, culture and community, becoming known for putting a modern and playful spin on traditional Mexican baked goods. The bakery is best known for its Original Stuffed Conchas, which have gained attention for their colorful presentation, unique flavors and decadent fillings.
During his visit, Suárez received a behind-the-scenes look at the bakery’s kitchen and learned more about the process that goes into creating some of its most popular treats. He joined Ana in preparing the desserts, working alongside the bakery team and getting hands-on with the creative process. The visit gave Suárez a firsthand look at the passion and craftsmanship behind the bakery’s offerings while providing an opportunity to connect with a local Las Vegas business and the community it serves.
Suárez continued his day with lunch at Bonito Michoacan before making television appearances at Univision Las Vegas and Telemundo Las Vegas. During the interviews, Suárez discussed his NASCAR career, his time in Las Vegas and his upcoming return to the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval.
The afternoon continued at Colors of Mexico inside Fashion Show Mall, where Suárez explored an immersive celebration of Mexican art, culture and tradition. Guided by Daniel Delgado, Suárez experienced the attraction’s colorful displays and interactive elements highlighting Mexico’s folklore, history and visual heritage. The visit offered a meaningful experience for Suárez, allowing him to connect with elements of his Mexican background while learning more about the stories and traditions featured throughout the attraction.
Suárez then headed to La Bonita Supermarkets, where he toured the store, met with employees and tried his hand at several different roles throughout the market. He worked behind the meat counter, visited the tortilla-making station and helped prepare agua fresca before joining local fans for a special meet and greet.
Fans had the opportunity to take photos, get autographs and talk with the NASCAR Cup Series driver about his career and upcoming return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The stop provided another opportunity for Suárez to interact with fans outside of the racetrack while experiencing another local side of the Las Vegas Valley.
“Getting out into the community and experiencing different parts of Las Vegas is always a lot of fun,” Suárez said. “I really enjoyed meeting the students, spending time with local businesses and getting to try some new things throughout the day. This city has a lot of great people, great food and experiences, and I’m looking forward to coming back to race.”
Suárez’s visit came one month ahead of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, Oct. 4. The NASCAR Cup Series will return as part of the 2026 Fall NASCAR Chase Weekend, Oct. 2–4.
The weekend will feature three days of racing and entertainment, beginning Friday, Oct. 2, with the Kyle Busch Classic presented by Star Nursery at The Bullring. Saturday will feature the Focused Health 302 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase Race before the NASCAR Cup Series takes center stage for the South Point 400 on Sunday.
