The excitement of winning a race for the first time at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway can change a young driver’s racing career, and that might have happened Saturday when the checkered flag fell in the annual “Mother’s Day Appreciation Night” at the fast 3/8-mile paved oval.

The Bullring’s “Winner’s Circle” was a unique celebration location when Keaton Harbison, Caitlyn Ford and Christina Harper all pulled their machines in the checkered spot at the start-finish line on a windy night at the popular racing facility by the famed Las Vegas Boulevard in northside of Sin City.

Harbison, the 14-year-old racer from Las Vegas, took on a stellar USLCI Legend Cars field Saturday after his first main event win for the class on Friday night in the preliminaries. The high school freshman looked to match his Friday performance after recording the quickest time in qualifying with his No. 9 machine Saturday afternoon.

Starting from the pole in the first USLCI Legend Car feature, Harbison jumped to the lead immediately with Sean Salazar, Spencer Bradshaw and Ben Morabito chasing him closely in the early laps of the 25-lapper. After an early yellow flag, Keaton was able to pull out his margin to several cars before another caution flag appeared at lap 18.

On the restart, Bradshaw applied pressure to Harbison and actually dove inside in turn three on lap 23 for the lead, but the young Las Vegan wasn’t to be denied as he wanted that first Saturday Bullring win. On the final lap, Harbison made an inside move on Bradshaw in turn three and drove to the checkered flag.

Bradshaw, the young driver from Troutman, N.C., had to settle for the runner-up spot followed by Morabito, Salazar, Connor Podloski, Spencer Gallagher, Nick Morabito, Stephen Brucker, Rhylee Hutchins and Zeke Anderson.

“Wow, that was an exciting race, and I knew I had to go into turn three deep to get by the 99 car,” said Harbison. “I’ve been wanting to win a main event in the Legends for a year and a half and we finally did it. I felt good early in the race and then the late caution had everyone bunch up. We were quick last night for the win and again in qualifying. So, I felt I had a good chance. It’s great to have the family and friends here on Mother’s Day Appreciation Night.”

In the second USLCI Legends feature, Harbison had to fight from the sixth starting spot in an effort to get to the front. But the teenager was on a mission after his earlier victory and moved to second by the second lap. He ran on the rear bumper of leader Salazar until lap ten when he slid inside for the lead in turn one.

Bradshaw applied the pressure along with B. Morabito, Salazar and N. Morabito by lap 13, but Keaton wasn’t about to give up his advantage this time. He held the margin to the checkered flag for a “clean sweep” night in the Legend Cars.

Bradshaw took second again followed by Salazar, N. Morabito, B. Morabito, Kaden Bradshaw, Gallagher, Brendan Tracy, Alex Roe and Brucker.

Ford, the Las Vegas teenager who won her first main event on Friday in the prelims, started on the pole the USLCI Bandoleros feature No. 1 and held her position against Bullring point leader Wyatt Layne for the first five laps despite the red flag and yellow flag caution periods. On the restart, Layne took the lead over Ford and two leaders pulled away from the 13-car field.  On lap ten, Caitlyn was able to pull alongside and slide inside of Layne in turn one, then she held off Wyatt to the checkered flag for her first Saturday Bullring victory.

Layne, a four-time Bullring winner in 2025, had to settle for the runner-up spot followed by Jeff Connors, Leila Trimmer, Mariyah Solomon, James Trimmer, Malcolm Mancias, Evan Johnson, Dylan Layne and Maison Albright.

In 12-lap Bandoleros Race No. 2, it was a similar battle between Ford and Layne, as Caitlyn started fifth but quickly moved to the lead by lap two. Again, Wyatt was right there, and he grabbed the No. 1 slot by lap five. However, as in race No. 1, the blonde teenager made the inside move in turn four on lap nine and took a double win at the Bullring.

Taking third in Race No. 2 was Solomon, Casey Piplic, Mancias, Evan Johnson, Austin French, L. Trimmer, Connors and Tucker Webster.

“I’m super excited with this win, my first one,” said Ford. “I was scared for a minute because Wyatt was right there. Our Tommy’s Express Wash car was really set up well. And I want to be back in the winner’s circle again in the second main event.”

Joining the Bullring “winners” list Saturday were Dylan Layne and Hayden Piplic, who captured the two 12-lap USLCI Bandoleros Beginning main events.

Harper, the veteran racer from Las Vegas, had been so close to victory in the popular Skid Plate Car division the past few years in bright pink No. 7 race car. Former Bullring champion Ken Coombs held the lead on the first two laps before Harper was able to notch the top spot on lap three.

As usual, the 3/8-mile oval was strewed with spinning race cars, but Christina kept a solid pace and weaved her way throughout the carnage. And she was not to be denied with her first main event win and a great cheer from the spectators.

Chasing Harper through the Skid Plate finale was Rich McMahon followed by multi-time Bullring winner Greg Lee, Austin Tognotti, Coombs, Chance Bourke, Keith Johnson, Luis Rivera, Kaycee Frost and Faythlynn O'Neill.

“The first couple laps were a little wild as I got hit in the door, and I thought I was just keeping spinning at that point,” said an elated Harper in the winner’s circle. “I want to thank my crew and my family for all the work they have done on the race car. It feels great to win here.”

One of the most intense battles of the night at Bullring came in the 40-lap 602 Modifieds main event with a spectacular four-driver showdown right from the drop of the green flag. It was Brian Williams from the pole at the start with Jaron Giannini right next to the Las Vegas racer with the Jacks brothers, Kyle and Sam, waiting for any mistake.

But it was a wheel-to-wheel, bumper-to-bumper contest for the first 20 laps with Williams fighting for the lead with the three veteran racers just inches apart. Finally, on lap 21, action got a little too tight and Giannini made contact with Williams and Brian spun around. Both Williams and Giannini had to go to the back of the field and Sam and Kyle Jacks took over the top spots.

In recent events, Sam Jacks’ No. 29 machine has been the car to beat, and Saturday was no exception. Sam then ran away from his brother for the victory with third going to Kayli Peterson, Giannini, Brian Williams, Ben Williams, Jimmy Petrie, David Boardman, Scott Ozborn, Robby Clutts and Brian Reed.

“That was some of the most intense racing in the Modifieds in a couple of years,” said S. Jacks. “No one was giving an inch in those first 20 laps. Then Brian and Jaron got together and that opened it up for Kyle and I. We have had a great car in the past few events, and I’m thrilled to be back in victory lane.”

Kyle Jacks might have finished second in the Modified main event, but the Las Vegas racing veteran was two for two in the two 20-lap Super Stock features with his fast No. 2 stock car. Kyle won the first race by leading the majority of the laps over Jason Kiser, Don Geary, Jacob Quartaro, Bill Paddack Jr. and Kyle Turner. In race two, Quartaro took the first position at the green flag but couldn’t off Jacks who took his second win of the evening. Kiser was runner-up again followed by Geary, Paddack Jr., Quartaro and Kyle Turner.

“We were busy with the Modifieds this week and we didn’t really touch the Super Stock, just normal maintenance,” said K. Jacks. “The No. 4 car has been quick all year and taking two victories tonight feels very good. I don’t feel bad about taking second to Sam in the Modified main either. He has been on rails lately. So, I’m happy we were 1-2 in that feature.”

In the 20-lap Factory Outlaws Stock main, Bullring veteran Anthony Mann took his No. 09 car from the pole and never looked back despite fighting off a challenge from Rob Pfaffly at the mid-race point. At the end of the race, Mann held the control with a tough battle for second with Pfaffly, former Bullring champion Michael Miller and three-time Bullring winner Pete Meyer. At the finish, Mann was the winner followed by Miller, Pfaffly, Meyer, Dallas Simonette, Carl Duryee, Nick Lautenbach and Mason Sargent.

It was a familiar face in the Pro Late Model main event with four-time Bullring winner Cody Brown of Las Vegas scoring the win in a great bumper-to-bumper race with early leader R. J. Smotherman of Pahrump. Brown chased Smotherman for some 30 laps in the 40-lapper, but the former national Legend Car champion took the inside line in turn three for the lead on lap 36.

Veteran Johnny Spilotro rounded out the top three podium in the Pro Late Models followed by T.J. Roberts, S. Gallagher, Gavin Ray, Mark Allison, Ashton Leonard, Keller Meechudhone, David Quartaro and Houston Simonette.

On Saturday night, Travis Boyle was seeking his third straight Mini Stock main event Saturday with his fast No. 51 Honda Civic, but he had a challenger this week with former Bullring Skid Plate champion Ben Williams in a new No. 24 stock car. Williams vaulted to the lead on lap two and then held off the advances of Boyle late in the 20-lap main for the win.

Third place went to Brandon Conner followed by Cecilia Williams, A.J. Hintsala, Melissa Lurkins, Wayne Conner, K. Coombs, R. McMahon, A. Tognotti, L. Rivera and Stephen Irvine.

NEXT RACE: The annual “Night to Remember Race” is next event at the Bullring and is set for Saturday, June 7, with the Pro Late Models, 602 Modifieds, USLCI Legend Cars, Super Stock, Factory Outlaws, Skid Plates, Mini Stocks and Bandoleros.
