Another action-packed schedule is set for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2018.
As construction to widen the iconic drag strip from two to four lanes nears completion, the track's calendar has been determined for another exciting season of racing. Local racers will break in the new racing surface with a number of LVMS Bracket Series and LVMS Jr. Dragsters Series events in March, with the widely anticipated DENSO NHRA Four-Wide Nationals following April 6-8.
From March 17-25, The Strip will host five LVMS Bracket Series events, four LVMS Jr. Dragsters Series races and a trio of Test n Tune sessions to begin those series' 2018 campaigns, with the season's first O'Reilly Auto Parts Midnight Mayhem event slated for March 30. Dates for the March events are tentative pending completion of the construction and are therefore subject to change.
The drag strip's other flagship event, the NHRA Toyota Nationals, will take place Oct. 25-28 and once again serve as the penultimate race in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series' Countdown to the Championship.
All totaled, The Strip is scheduled to host approximately 40 events in 2018, including the Spring Fling Million April 17-21, the NHRA Division 7 Jr. Finals West Coast Jr. Spectacular Sept. 20-23, and the NHRA Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series finale Nov. 1-4. The completely resurfaced drag strip will be the home for 11 LVMS Bracket Series races, nine LVMS Jr. Dragsters Series events and seven installments of LVMS' safe alternative to illegal street racing, O'Reilly Auto Parts Midnight Mayhem.
The Strip, which has been named the NHRA Division 7 LODRS Track of the Year for five consecutive years and six times overall, will host at least one event every month from March through December.
