Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding a blood drive on Wednesday, July 14.

The blood drive will run from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and be held in the Local IQ Digital Center in the speedway’s infield. As a thank-you, all presenting donors will receive two NASCAR Truck race tickets for the Westgate 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race on Friday, September 24, 2021.  E-tickets Valid only September 24, 2021.

Speedway Race tickets are non-transferable and not convertible to cash Donors with an email address on file will receive the digital tickets via email for the event.

Right now, the Red Cross is working around the clock to provide blood products to hospitals responding to an unusually high number of traumas and emergency room visits, as well as overdoses and resulting transplants. As a result of the blood shortage, some hospitals are being forced to slow the pace of elective surgeries until the blood supply stabilizes, delaying crucial patient care.

In addition, while summer is traditionally a time when blood donations decline, this year is particularly challenging as many Americans receive their vaccinations and resume summer activities after more than a year of limited interactions and travel, leading to lower donor turnout. The need for blood doesn’t take a holiday break − patients still depend on lifesaving transfusions.

Donors are needed now to prevent further delays to patient care. All blood types are needed, especially type O.

To make an appointment or to learn more, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visit RedCrossBlood.org, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.

Completion of a RapidPass® online health history questionnaire is encouraged to help speed up the donation process. To get started, follow the instructions at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass or use the Blood Donor App.

A blood donor card or driver’s license, or two other forms of identification, are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

For donors who haven’t been to the Speedway before, take exit 54 off I-15 North, Speedway Blvd. Make a right on Speedway Blvd. and follow until Checkered Flag Lane. Make a right and take Checkered Flag Lane to the infield tunnel. Turn left through the tunnel and toward the Local IQ Digital Center. Directional signage will be provided as well.
