The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is scheduled to host two NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series events in 2021, the National Hot Rod Association announced Wednesday.

The DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals is slated for April 16-18, and the Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil — part of the NHRA Countdown to the Championship — is planned for Oct. 29-31. The Strip at LVMS is one of just three drag strips, along with Pomona, Calif., and Charlotte, scheduled to host two NHRA national events in 2021.

Both event weekends, of course, are subject to schedule alterations based on the possible restrictions caused by the COVID-19 virus.

“We’re excited that 2021 will bring back the power of the world’s fastest cars to Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” LVMS President Chris Powell said. “The Strip is truly one of the country’s most iconic drag strips, and we love showcasing it on national television through our pair of Camping World Drag Racing Series events each year.”

The DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals is slated as the fourth of 23 series events and will be televised on the FOX family of networks. The 2020 event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Dodge NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil is the penultimate NHRA event of the season and has been the site where a number of drivers have clinched world championships.
