Two-time Emmy Award-winning actor, screenwriter and co-creator of Ted Lasso Brendan Hunt will serve as Grand Marshal for the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series Chase Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 4.
Best known for his role as Coach Beard on the Emmy Award-winning Apple TV series Ted Lasso, Hunt will give the command, “Drivers, start your engines,” before the South Point 400 gets underway at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The NASCAR Cup Series Chase Race is scheduled to take the green flag at 2:30 PM.
Hunt co-created Ted Lasso alongside Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence and Joe Kelly. Hunt stars alongside Sudeikis as Coach Beard, the quietly witty and trusted assistant coach. The series has earned consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series, a Peabody Award and numerous other honors. Ted Lasso is currently in its fourth season, with new episodes of the Apple TV series releasing weekly. The 10-episode season is scheduled to conclude October 7, just days after Hunt visits Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400.
Beyond Ted Lasso, Hunt’s career spans television, film, theater and comedy. His acting credits include We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses 2, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place and Community. Most recently, Hunt completed two sold-out runs of his critically acclaimed one-man autobiographical show, The Movement You Need. Following its debut at the Soho Playhouse in Manhattan, the production ran at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre, where it won four Jeff Awards, including Best Performer and New Work.
“We’re happy to welcome Brendan Hunt to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400,” said Patrick Lindsey, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. “Brendan is an incredible talent, and we’re excited to have him be part of race day and experience everything that makes a NASCAR weekend in Las Vegas so special.”
Hunt will join a distinguished list of entertainers, athletes and public figures who have served as Grand Marshal at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, including Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, actor Glenn Powell, Las Vegas icons Penn & Teller, and UFC President Dana White.
The South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series Chase Race is scheduled for 2:30 PM Sunday, October 4. Tickets and additional information are available at LVMS.com. The weekend will feature the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase Race on Saturday and the NASCAR Cup Series Chase Race on Sunday, along with driver appearances, entertainment and activities throughout the Speedway.
