The World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Series is returning to the entertainment capital of the world for the annual FVP Outlaw Showdown at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway March 9-10, 2017.

The event will be a great lead-in to LVMS' annual NASCAR Weekend, which runs March 10-12 at the 1.5-mile paved oval. Racing fans can pull a double and enjoy Stratopshere Pole day at the big track and the FVP Outlaw Showdown at the Dirt Track on Friday, March 10.

"Las Vegas Motor Speedway is one of those races that everyone circles on their calendar. This annual event provides one of the most anticipated two days of racing on the World of Outlaws schedule," World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Director Carlton Reimers said.

Tickets for the 2017 FVP Outlaw Showdown at Las Vegas Motor Speedway are now on sale by visiting dirtcar.ticketforce.com or by calling the ticket hotline: 844-DIRT-TIX (347-8849).

During night one of the 2016 doubleheader, Brian Brown started from the pole position, allowing him to jump to an early lead. Just past the halfway mark of the 30-lap feature, Brown had some misfortune when he experienced a mechanical failure on his No. 21 FVP/Casey's General Store, ultimately forcing him to give up the lead and retire from the event.

Joey Saldana took advantage of Brown's bad luck and went on to claim his first victory of the 2016 season and his first win with his new team, Roth Motorsports.

During the second and last night at the half-mile, semi-banked oval, Brad Sweet and Donny Schatz started on the front row for the feature. At the start of the 30-lap race, Schatz fell outside of the top-five to the sixth position.

Night-one winner Saldana rocketed to the lead only a few laps into the race. He was looking to leave Las Vegas by sweeping the weekend and hitting the jackpot.

However, Brad Sweet was able to take over the top spot from Saldana before lap 10. Schatz, with a hard charge to the front, had other plans in mind, as he put on a show for the fans and reclaimed the No. 1 position with only four laps remaining.

With just two laps to go, the race was under caution, setting the feature up for a green-white-checkered finish. The Fargo, N.D., native Schatz charged forward during the final re-start and struck it rich in 'Sin City,' taking home his third victory of the 2016 season.
