In a powerful show of hope, unity, and resilience, a group of breast cancer survivors gathered at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to help paint the track pink ahead of the South Point 400 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff Race. Together, they transformed the speedway’s apron with bright pink ribbons, honoring those who have battled breast cancer and celebrating the strength of survivors everywhere.
“It’s a great outing for us survivors, it’s great to be a part of something that celebrates you,” said Maria Hornsby, a two-time breast cancer survivor. “When you can come to something like this, it means everything.”
The annual event serves as a meaningful reminder that the fight against breast cancer extends far beyond the racetrack. With each brushstroke, participants shared stories of survival, remembrance, and perseverance, infusing the track with both color and emotion.
“What a great event today,” said Patrick Lindsey, Senior Vice President & General Manager at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. “Welcoming our breast cancer survivors from our community to paint ribbons on our track was extremely rewarding and was a great way to start our race weekend. Our partners, Focused Health and the South Point Hotel & Casino, recognize the importance of continuing to raise awareness for this great cause. I’d also like to thank the American Cancer Society for bringing out countless volunteers to help us paint these pink ribbons.”
Shawn Holt, CEO and Co-Founder of Focused Health, echoed that sentiment. “The Focused Health 302 is on Saturday, and ending breast cancer is very near and dear to our hearts,” Holt said. “We wanted to put on an event that would allow survivors to come out to help memorialize what they were able to overcome as individuals and bring more awareness to breast cancer.”
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is proud to stand in solidarity with the breast cancer community during this important month, reinforcing the message that awareness and early detection are crucial in saving lives. By highlighting survivors and their stories, the speedway aims to draw attention to the importance of regular screenings, research funding, and ongoing support for those undergoing treatment.
Fans attending the South Point 400 are encouraged to join in the celebration by wearing pink, sharing messages of support on social media, and honoring loved ones who have been impacted by breast cancer. Together, the NASCAR community and fans everywhere can help drive awareness, inspire hope, and remind the world that no one fights alone.
