High winds and gusts above 30 knots (34 mph) have forced the Red Bull Air Race World Championship Race Committee to cancel the Master Class Round of 14 and Challenger Cup Final in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Twelve of the 14 Master Class pilots made runs on the windy day, but the final two were unable to post times, so the Round of 14 was scratched.
"The strong wind today has resulted in the Race Committee taking the decision to cancel all flying sessions. Safety is our utmost priority, and with gusts over 30 knots, it exceeds our ability to conduct the race in a safe manner," Race Director Steve Jones said.
Germany's Matthias Dolderer won the 2016 world championship before the Las Vegas race, with Australia's Matt Hall in second and Austria's Hannes Arch on the podium in third.
The Challenger Cup result will be based on points from each pilot's top three finishes this season. This therefore means that the Winner of the Challenger Cup is Florian Berger (28 pts), 2. Daniel Ryfa (26 pts), 3. Kevin Coleman (26 pts).
